About FretCompare
Affiliate disclosure, up front: some links on this site are affiliate links (Amazon is active; other programs are labelled placeholders until approved). If you buy through an affiliate link, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The full disclosure is below, before any recommendation relies on it.
FretCompare — Compare online guitar lessons. FretCompare compares online guitar lesson platforms by level, style, budget, trial, and refund — so beginners and returning players can pick without wading through hype.
How we compare
Pages are generated from a single data file (data/platforms.json). Facts we have not confirmed on a platform's own site are marked “to verify.” Hands-on testing has not happened yet, so recommendations are labelled as editorial and based on verified facts only.
FTC affiliate disclosure
FretCompare is reader-supported. Some links on this site are affiliate links — for example to lesson platforms and gear retailers (links that are not yet active are labelled as placeholders and contain no affiliate ID yet). If you buy through an affiliate link after we are approved for a program, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This helps pay for hosting and testing. Commissions never change a platform's facts in our database; unverified facts stay marked “to verify” regardless of payout.
As an Amazon Associate, FretCompare earns from qualifying purchases. Amazon Associates status: active (Store ID fretcompare-20) as of Oct 17, 2026; Amazon links on gear pages show no static Amazon prices, per program terms. Placeholder disclosure status for other programs: Guitar Tricks, TrueFire, JamPlay, Reverb, Sweetwater and Guitar Center applications are still pending - their links remain labelled placeholders with no affiliate ID until approved.
